Bottle Rocket Launch 1
During period 6 today our group had its first bottle rocket launching. Keep in mind that this was our very first launch so the bottle rocket itself was only a prototype of what is to come. Before he left us, Mr. Blake gave us clear instructions on how to prepare the bottle rocket for launching. First off we had to fill up the bottle with 500-1000ml of water. Secondly we had to prepare the bottle for launch by attaching it to the launcher. Thirdly we were to pump the bottle to at least 40 psi (or about 11 strokes). Lastly we were to yell loudly that we were launching and count down to our launch. By using a little estimation we figured to use about 500-550ml's of water in order to have maximum pressure built up in the bottle. Initially we had problems with keeping the bottle itself stable, but after about 2 tries our bottle rocket successfully launched. Unfortunately it was lost during its mission, as it went over Konia into the land below. Overall this was a very successful and fun launch and hopefully it will go a lot smoother in the future, and hopefully we'll be able to have the bottle in the air for more than 3 seconds for Friday's launch.

whats the planss
This blog is based on our new lab, which is building a water bottle rocket. This process will take a while and the ultimate goal is for our rockets to be airborne for 10 seconds. That is the minimum time limit and it is a tough time to reach. Our plans for this project are to first stay on task, think out of the box, and reach our goals on time. Since both of us had done this before either with a water rocket set or some other way we both have an idea with what will make this fly higher. It seems our goal was common when we had the chance to play with this type of thing in the past, make it go higher. So we each went through trial and error to find out what can make that happen. So for this project we are looking to keep the weight to a minimum. Just enough weight to fly straight and not get carried to far by the wind. The water level is also a big thing. It cannot be full with water as we found and it cant be empty. The water is like its fuel and the air is like its engine. So we are going to experience with levels of water ranging from a quarter way to halfway full with the most possible air we can pump into the bottle. Hopefully with that we can figure something, tweak its physical look and reach the 10 second goal.
